The Safe Wash Theory
The primary goal of exterior cleaning is to remove environmental contamination without inflicting mechanical damage (commonly seen as "swirl marks" or fine scratches) to the clear coat.
This requires a methodology that prioritises chemical breakdown of dirt before physical contact is made. By loosening and suspending particulate matter, the risk of dragging abrasive dirt across the paint is significantly reduced.
Note: We do not claim guaranteed paint correction. Existing deep scratches cannot be washed away, and significant defects may require professional machine polishing evaluation.
Inspection Metrics
- Visual check for embedded iron fallout (often visible as small orange dots on lighter vehicles).
- Assessment of lower panels for tar accumulation.
- Evaluation of water behavior to determine current protection status (beading vs. flat water lying).
- Inspection of alloy wheels for baked-on brake dust.
Sequential Process
Pre-Cleaning (Touchless Phase)
Application of snow foams or citrus pre-washes. These alkaline or pH-neutral solutions soften road film and lift larger particles. This is rinsed off under pressure before any wash mitt touches the surface.
Safe Washing (Contact Phase)
Utilising the two-bucket method: one containing wash solution, the other plain water for rinsing the wash media (typically a microfibre mitt). This prevents dirt collected from the car from being reintroduced to the paint.
Contamination Removal
If required, chemical decontamination targets specific bonds: fallout removers for iron particles, and solvent-based removers for tar and adhesives. A physical clay bar stage may follow to remove remaining bonded contaminants, leaving the surface entirely smooth.
Safe Drying
Drying can induce scratching if done incorrectly. Using plush, highly absorbent microfibre towels with a patting motion, or forced warm air blowers, minimises friction. A drying aid (quick detailer) can provide lubrication during this step.
