The Reality of Protection

Important notice regarding expectations:

We do not claim permanent protection. Protection durability depends heavily on product choice, the quality of surface preparation, driving conditions, washing habits, and vehicle storage. Even the most advanced coatings require maintenance.

The primary function of any paint protection is to act as a sacrificial barrier against UV rays, bird droppings, bug splatter, and chemical fallout, while creating a hydrophobic (water-repelling) surface that makes the vehicle easier to wash.

Natural Waxes

Traditional protection, often based on Carnauba.

  • Characteristics: Provides a warm, deep glow to the paintwork. Excellent for classic or show vehicles.
  • Durability: Generally lower, requiring reapplication every 1 to 3 months depending on conditions.
  • Maintenance: Simple to apply but degrades quickly with harsh chemicals.

Synthetic Sealants

Engineered polymers designed for longevity.

  • Characteristics: Creates a highly reflective, 'glassy' finish. Very slick to the touch.
  • Durability: Moderate to high. Typically lasts 4 to 8 months in UK conditions.
  • Maintenance: More resistant to heat and detergents than natural waxes. Good choice for daily drivers.

Ceramic Coatings

Semi-permanent nano-technology bonds.

  • Characteristics: Forms a rigid layer over the clear coat. Extreme hydrophobicity and chemical resistance.
  • Durability: High. Can last several years, but claims of "lifetime" are often misleading without strict maintenance.
  • Maintenance: Requires highly specific, pH-neutral washing routines to prevent the coating from 'clogging' with minerals.

The Importance of Preparation

No protection product will perform optimally if applied to a contaminated or unpolished surface. The bonding process (especially for ceramics) requires naked, chemically clean clear coat. Failing to decontaminate and prep the surface will result in premature failure of the protection layer, regardless of its marketed durability.
